What is a Research Proposal/Brief
A research proposal outlines a proposed research project, detailing its purpose, significance, and methodology. The proposal, sometimes called a brief, outlines the researcher’s plan for conducting research to answer a particular research question.
Typically, a research proposal includes an introduction or problem statement that outlines the focus of the study, a clear research question, a rationale explaining the topic and its significance, a literature review identifying gaps in the current literature and a detailed methodology describing the approach and tools to be used.

Significance of the Research This research will enhance the understanding of how effective leadership strategies contribute to employee retention and productivity in medium and large Non-Profit Organisations (NGOs) in Australia. Identifying specific leadership approaches that foster employee satisfaction and engagement could be used to inform policies and practices aimed at improving workplace culture and business outcomes in NGOs. Enhancing employee retention rates in NGOs could have broader impacts by contributing positively to the sector's growth and stability, which plays a significant role in Australia’s economy (Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission, 2024).

Study Participants and Sampling In-depth and semi-structured interviews will be conducted with 20 employees and 20 managers working in Non-Profit Organisations (NGOs) in Australia. Qualitative data analysis will be performed using the thematic analysis method. To participate, individuals must have at least six months of experience working in an NGO and currently be employed in such an organisation. Participants will be chosen through targeted sampling to ensure a diverse group representing various roles, organisational sizes, and levels of leadership experience. Small NGOs (annual revenue less than $250,000) will be excluded from the study, as their insights may not reflect the current leadership dynamics and challenges faced by larger NGOs.

Introduce who the participants are and how many you will recruit. Include any important background information and the selection process.
Include any exclusion criteria.
